Hannah Werner graduated from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, with a degree bachelors degree in political science and a double minor in Social and Economic Justice and Duke/UNC’s joint minor in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. After completing her first year of law school at the University of Mississippi School of Law, Hannah transferred to Vanderbilt University Law School. During her 1L summer, she worked for in-house counsel at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. This summer, she will be working at Parker Poe and Motley Rice law firms in South Carolina. During the school year, she spends a lot of her time with the Veteran’s Affairs Medical Legal Clinic, helping veterans receive legal aid at no cost and also works with the Health Law Society. After law school, Hannah plans on working in Charleston in the healthcare law sector.

Suria originally grew up in Miami, Florida, but left the sunshine to attend Georgetown University for undergrad. She majored in biology and history and played Division I Softball for the Hoyas. From there, Suria moved further north to Boston to work as a paralegal at a large law firm. Law firm life helped her make the decision to apply to law school. She attended GW Law School for her 1L year, and then transferred to Harvard Law School. After graduating, she will clerk in Washington, D.C. at D.C. District Court, and then again in Austin, Texas on the 5th Circuit before returning to Gibson Dunn in Washington, D.C. to work as an associate. Most importantly, Suria has a cat named Charles who has been up and down the East Coast through her law school adventure.

Robbie Day is a 3L at the University of Virginia School of Law. After graduating from Washington and Lee University in 2012, he went to work on President Obama’s reelection campaign in Ohio. Then he headed to the woods to spend six months hiking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. While he enjoyed his first year at George Mason Law School, he decided to transfer to UVA to be closer to the mountains he loves. Upon graduating this year, Robbie will clerk in the Western District of Virginia for the Honorable Michael F. Urbanski and then work as an associate in Covington & Burling’s Washington D.C. office.

Ilan Freidmann-Grunstein is a second-year law student at University of California, Berkeley – School of Law, where he transferred after spending a year at New York University School of Law. Before law school, he received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis. He has served as an intern at the California Appellate Project and currently serves as a legal intern for the Alameda County Public Defender. His legal interests include helping to reform the American criminal justice system, especially the treatment of poor and marginalized people. He has proficiency in four different languages and enjoys playing sports, reading, and hiking.
